Make a break for it…

In our new spring catalog, we packed five perfect getaway bags in our Make a Break for It feature (page 38). Here, we hit up some of our stylish, on-the-go friends to see where they’re headed this spring—and what’s in their ultimate travel bag.

Escaping to: Kauai and Oahu (for a very belated honeymoon)

On the to-do list:
1. Learn how to surf
2. Lay out
3. Hike
4. Lay out
5. Kayak

What she’s packing:

1. Plantlife Skirt
This mini is perfect for a holiday. Wear it with a silk tank and a light leather jacket at night or with a loose tee and flip-flops during the day.

2. Shrunken Chambray Boyshirt
I would totally wear this open as a light jacket over a dress.

3. Skinny Skinny Ankle Colorpop Jeans
I’m so into coral right now. Can’t wait to wear these skinnies with flats or sandals.

4. Silverlining Sweatshirt
I’d wear this with a printed shirt and the Skinny Skinny Colorpop Jeans. It’s just the sort of easy look you want while on vacation.

Escaping to: Tuscany

On the to-do list:
1. Emulate Diane Lane’s experience in Under the Tuscan Sun as closely as possible.
2. Tour the wineries (obviously).
3. Take a cooking class, since the pots and pans in my kitchen are currently collecting dust.
4. Day trip to Florence to visit the Ufizzi Gallery and Boboli Gardens.
5. Go on a horseback ride through Maremma—because frankly, I can’t think of anything that sounds less like me and more like an excerpt from a romance novel.

What she’s packing:

1. Mara Hoffman® Ibis Ruffle Bustier Bikini
This bikini is the perfect mix of style and support. And who doesn’t love a little flirty ruffle along the bust line? Too cute.

2. Skargorn™ Thorn Jeans
These are comfy enough for any kind of travel but chic enough to wear while shopping and sightseeing.

3. Bamboula Ltd. Little Market Bag
I love this bright crossbody bag. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the long strap ensures its safety—perfect for the frazzled traveler (aka me).

4. bed|stü™ Aunt Babbs Boat Shoes
I cannot stress how important comfort is to me when I’m traveling. This colorful, distressed boat shoe couldn’t be cuter.

5. Roseblossom Sundress
Ah, the perfect go-to for day or night. It has a subtle romantic vibe that was made for Tuscany.

6. True Love Shrunken Oxford
A fitted oxford has officially replaced the cardigan in my closet. When traveling, I wear it as is or unbuttoned as a cover-up over my swimsuit or as a light jacket at night. There’s just something effortlessly chic about it.

Roadtripping through: The Southeast (in search of seashells)

On the to-do list:
1. Sanibel and Captiva Island, Florida
2. Cumberland Island, Georgia
3. Kemah, Texas
4. San Jose Island, Texas

What she’s packing:

1. Undrest® Sao Paulo Triangle Bikini Set
I always have a new favorite pop color and currently it’s chartreuse. Plus, this shape is lovely and unique.

2. Denim Midi Shorts in Whitewash
For those lounging or wading moments, you can’t beat a cute pair of white denim shorts.

3. Bamboula Ltd. Market Bag
It’s important to have a beach tote that’s strong enough to carry the weight of shells but can double as a purse so you can travel lightly.

4. Pinstriper Silk Pants

A vintage flare, a moderate shape—these are so me.

5. bed|stü™ Aunt Bettie Boat Shoe
A distressed and destroyed boat shoe instead of a rubber flip-flop? Yes, please!

6. Saltspring Sweater-Top
I’m not big on being uncovered anywhere, so this sweater helps me stay modest and a little covered up without getting too warm.
