Noticed: The Button-down As a Light Jacket

Photography by Angi Welsch

Somehow, fall is right around the corner. And just in time for this in-between weather we’ve noticed women smartly dressing for it with one of the most basic pieces: the white button-down, but worn as a light jacket.

Left open and loose, the genius is in the simplicity. It’s a piece most of us already have. Worn as outerwear, it’s less structured than a blazer (and will wrinkle nicely when stuffed into a tote). For all its subtlety, it really pulls an outfit together. We’re loving it over a summer dress that just won’t retire for the season or over a white tee and jeans—basically anything that feels so very summer. Just like that, it brings you into fall.

Our friend, artist Jimena Montemayor, is wearing our Denim Cargo Workshirt in Pure White, Linen Crewneck Tee and Alley Straight Jeans.
