Weekly Roundup: What To Read This Weekend

There’s not much one might say about Paris that hasn’t already been said—a moveable feast, always a good idea, the only appropriate home for an artist—but we really can’t help but marvel at its elegance and charm. Here, some must-reads we came across while shooting our fall catalog in the City of Light.

Photos: After browsing the beautiful photo diary of Carin Olsson—she started it to document what was meant to be a four-month stay in Paris years ago—we can understand why she never left, via Paris In Four Months.

Cinema: The first section of this guide to French cinema is titled, “What is the French New Wave, anyway?” Get ready to learn, and love, via New Wave Film.

Games: Backgammon—which can be found left out on café tables all around the city—didn’t originate in France, but we appreciate the history lesson anyway, via Man of The World.

Karaoke: Of course karaoke in France isn’t about slurring your way through a Top 40 hit. Instead, we heard heart-melting ballads, like “Aicha” by Cheb Khaled, via Spotify.

Word: aubade (n.; French): a love song sung at dawn.
