How to Pack for a Winter Escape

As winter drags on (here’s to you, January), we find ourselves drifting into warm-weather daydreams: basking on the beaches of Costa Rica with a good book, waking up to a sunrise surf in Mexico, napping in the California sunshine…whoa. Annnd, we’re back.

Now that you’ve got the trip planned (at least mentally), what to pack? Our advice: Bring less. Although it might feel right in the moment to throw in a few more things just in case, these classic pieces should do the trick.

1. A skinny pant. A slim silhouette lends itself to multiple shoe options and does the whole day-to-night thing.

2. A weekender. This one’s obvious but begs repeating. A substantial leather weekend tote just makes a trip feel more luxurious.

3. Leopard-printed espadrilles. They don’t have to be leopard print. Or an espadrille for that matter. The bottom line: Pack a shoe you can walk in that’s fun for a night out too.

4. A striped sweater. For the plane, train or car; for over a swimsuit; for over anything, really.

5. A swimsuit. Of course.

6. Sunglasses and jewelry. These take up almost no space in your suitcase but make second-day outfits look anything but.

On our packing list above? Our Skinny Ankle-Zip CargosThe Transport Weekender, Soludos® SlippersShoulder-Zip Stripe Sweater, String Bikini, Indio Shades and Coinseal Statement Necklace.
