Inspired by Madewell et Sézane: An Illustrated Guide to Our Favorite French Words

cultivée: well-read

We had so much fun teaming up with Sézane® (our favorite Parisian label) for a second time, and it wasn’t long before we started racking our brains trying to remember some of our high school French. (We have a thing for other languages, which you probably know if you’ve been reading our Weekly Roundups.) An illustrated French lesson, after the jump.

raison d’être: reason for living

(Fittingly, the flag atop that edible mountain reads “mon fromage,” meaning “my cheese.”)

flânerie: an aimless, lovely stroll

billet aller-simple: one-way ticket

garçon manqué: tomboy
