Noticed: Layering Two Winter Scarves

Consider this a way to get the very most out of that one great coat you really love.

You have to expect it: In the colder months, your style will be dictated by your coat. And while it’s refreshing to know what you’ll be wearing every day, sometimes you may crave a little more of a look…or extra warmth, if we’re being functional. Luckily, our favorite new twist—wearing two different scarves at once—achieves both.

The “how” is pretty straightforward: Lay one scarf flat, lay a second on top and then wrap them both up together. But the “why” is where we get, well, prescriptive. If you want to make a neutral look more interesting, go for two scarves in the same color scheme but with different textures. Or choose two contrasting patterns. You can’t beat the fun of mixing checks with chevron or stripes with plaid. It might just be all you need to extend the life—and your love—of your favorite coat until spring.
