WHAT GOES INTO ONE PAIR OF RIVET & THREAD JEANS?

Limited edition, small batch and made in LA, Rivet & Thread jeans are crafted with best-of-the-best denim, giant machines—and a bit of elbow grease. We went behind the scenes at our denim studio—where the same family has been making jeans since 1975—to see the magic happen. Spoiler alert: They really know what they’re doing.

STEP 1

Choose the fabric. Sample yardage is tested from Rivet & Thread’s favorite Japanese mills—Kaihara and Mitsui, to name two—and then selected for each style.

STEP 2

Cut the jeans. Each pattern is developed by an artisan who’s been in the field for decades and helps to nail that vintage look our Rivet & Thread denim is known for. Operating the cutting machine requires serious protection (see the metal gloves?).

STEP 3

Sew them up. Here’s where the jeans become, well, jeans—stitching every seam, pocket, belt loop and, lastly, label onto every pair.

STEP 4

Wash them well. Industrial-sized machines solidify the fit and give each Rivet & Thread pair that slightly pre-loved look.

STEP 5

Add final touches. All Rivet & Thread rivets, buttons and zippers come from Italy and have a patina that mimics the natural fades only found in vintage denim.

And that, friends, is how you make a pair of perfect premium jeans that’ll get better with each wear (and we mean that—we’ve tested more than a few).
