We’re at over 200,000 pairs—and counting (!). Keep bringing us your pre-loved jeans, and we’ll keep transforming them into housing insulation for communities in need. Did we mention you’ll get $20 towards new ones?* Talk about good vibes.
We’re all about doing what we can to give back all year round—but the holiday season calls for a little extra effort. Here are five ways, big and small, to get into the do well spirit this year.
Our latest out-of-office adventure took to us Yonkers, New York, where East Coast members of Team Madewell helped build a house with Habitat for Humanity. (BTW, did you catch our last one in LA?) On an early Friday morning, suited up in jeans and sneaks, we hopped on a bus from our NYC HQ and set off for some quality do well time.
We’re hitting the road again with Blue Jeans Go Green™ collecting your old denim and transforming it into housing insulation for communities in need. Each pair you bring will get you $20 off a new one*—and even better, the first 10 people to recycle at the first event in each city will score free jeans. Since we’ll be traveling for a few months, we asked Team Madewell friends across the country to share their favorite local spots in some of our tour stops—and they were just too good not to pass on.
In case you didn’t already know, everyone here at Madewell really loves jeans. What we love just as much is being able to use jeans to do well. We’re proud partners with Blue Jeans Go Green™—a program that gives new life to the pre-loved pairs you bring to our stores by turning them into housing insulation for communities in need. Recently, 33 members of our team took part in that transformation IRL at a house build with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles.
One vintage truck, 40 insulated homes, two bikes, 40,000 pairs of jeans… We’re breaking down how our national denim recycling drive is coming together (and how our denim has been used so far), by the numbers.
Since August, we’ve been collecting your used denim in our stores, in partnership with our friends at Blue Jeans Go Green. Approximately 1,000 pairs are coming through our doors monthly (thank you!). What happens to this denim exactly, you may wonder? Two of our team members, Susan and Danielle, were on hand for the entire process, from collecting the jeans in our stores to installing the insulation with Habitat for Humanity.
We admittedly love combing through the many inspiring Fashion Week street style pictures that are currently flooding our screens–but the truth of the matter is, the images that have really been catching our eyes are your #denimmadewell #contest submissions (truth). We’ve rounded up a few of our very favorites below for your perusing pleasure. PSA: You have till 9/22 to enter as many photos as you want, and the grand prize winner receives a $1,500 gift card, while five runners-up will receive $250 gift cards.* All six winners will be featured in a card set by Artifact Uprising. Everyone receives our undying double-tapped love. So, you know, snap to it.
In our world, fall cleaning is just as much a thing as spring cleaning. It’s always right about now that we start unearthing pieces that haven’t seen the light of day in way too long, and clearing them out to make room for new fall clothes. This year, we decided to turn our annual ritual into an opportunity to help those in need. All those jeans that have been in a permanent state of hibernation? Starting tomorrow, August 12th, bring them into any Madewell store: We’re teaming up with Blue Jeans Go Green™ to turn denim into housing insulation for those in need.
